Toreador – collettiva
Toreador was a large group exhibition devoted to taurine imagery, presented in Arles by the City of Arles and the association éVocation NP, with scenography and curatorship by Patrick Simeon. The press dossier describes a wide-ranging exhibition, with around 180 works shown between the Chapelle Sainte-Anne and the Espace Van Gogh, and the participation of many contemporary artists, including Beppe Madaudo. For Madaudo, the theme of the bull and the torero fits naturally into an imagery made of body, ritual, animality and scenic tension: his presence in the group show dialogues with a Mediterranean and symbolic visual tradition, rather than merely illustrating the corrida.
